My father worked for the Electrical Bureau in Camden for 30 years, from approximately 1973 (I think) to when he retired in 2004. He has since passed and I have been maintaining his website on his behalf, until which time it makes sense not to. Here are a gallery of his photos which he has either collected or taken.

THE OLD AND THE NEW. The old "double action" box required the user to break the glass, turn the valve-key to open the door and then pull the hook downward. New single action boxes were installed citywide in 1966.

Feb 16, 1967: Electrical Bureau, City of Camden, NJ. Gentlemen: I wish to thank you for putting in order again the light on the parking lot at Mickle Street. I am one who was knocked down and robbed by a person hiding behind the one room bootblack parlor but now that booth is well lighted and it's a comfort to be able to walk more safely on my way to work at 11 PM. Thanking you again, I am yours sincerely, Raymond F. Wafer.
