Rear Admiral Christine Bruzek-Kohler, a native of Camden, N.J., graduated from Villanova University in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and an Ensign commission. She later earned a Masters of Education from Providence College and a Master of Arts and Doctor of Education from George Washington University. Bruzek-Kohler is recognized as a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Throughout her career, she held various positions, including Charge Nurse at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., Staff Nurse at the U.S. Naval Regional Medical Center in Naples, Italy, and Director of Nursing at U.S. Naval Hospital in Guam. Her roles also included Executive Officer at Naval Hospital in Pensacola, Fla., Commanding Officer at Naval Hospital in Lemoore, Calif., and Assistant Deputy Chief for Medical Operations Support at Bureau of Medicine and Surgery in Washington.
Most recently serving as the 21st Director of the Navy Nurse Corps and the Chief of Staff at Bureau of Medicine and Surgery in Washington, Rear Admiral Christine Bruzek-Kohler has received honors such as the Legion of Merit (two awards), Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), and numerous service awards.
