One of Camden's oldest and most storied streets, named after the Cooper family. Covers the full length from the waterfront to the 2000 block, including the Victor Talking Machine Company, Esterbrook Pen Company, Johnson Park, the Hotel Plaza, the Walt Whitman Hotel, the Elks Lodge, and East Camden's other Cooper Street.
The Linden School, a Camden public school opened in 1890 at 429 N. 10th Street, replaced in 1926 by the William F. Powell School and later demolished.
The first clock appeared above City Hall in 1876. Camden's new City Hall opened early that year, although the clock was not yet in place. The first town clock in the tower of the City Hall was placed in position in May of 1876.
