Anthony Joseph Bibinski of Camden served as a Private First Class in the 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division. He took part in the invasions of Anzio and Southern France and was killed in action on November 20, 1944.
Private First Class Louis Bontkowski of 1191 Liberty Street, Camden, NJ served with Company A, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, joined the division in April 1944 in time for the D-Day landings, and died of wounds on September 13, 1944. He is buried at St. Joseph Cemetery, Gloucester Township, NJ.
John Lozowski, Private, VMSB-341, U.S. Marine Corps, was killed on April 8, 1943, when his plane crashed at Atlantic Field, North Carolina. He is buried at St. Joseph Cemetery in Gloucester Township, NJ. He had lived at 1143 Sheridan Street in Camden, NJ.
Machinist's Mate First Class Joseph J. Piotrowski of 1167 Chase Street, Camden, served aboard the cruiser USS Helena (CL-50), survived the attack on Pearl Harbor, and was killed in action on July 6, 1943 when the Helena was sunk at the Battle of Kula Gulf. He is memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery.
The newly organized Camden Fire Department basketball club, managed by Edwin Wirtz, met Gimbel's of Philadelphia in a return game at Hatch Junior High School, having won the opener 69-64.
