35th Street runs from the Delaware River south to River Avenue, then resumes east of the Pavonia railroad switching yard and again beyond Westfield Avenue, reaching Federal Street and continuing three blocks to Highland Avenue at the Pennsauken border. It is North 35th Street above Federal and South 35th below.
Bertha Reed, 18, of 928 North 21st Street carried three-year-old Michael Moran to safety when fire broke out at 1145 DuPont Street in Cramer Hill; Engines 9 and 11 and Truck 3 responded.
Firemen at the 27th and Federal streets firehouse gave a farewell party for two retired veterans, District Chief Engineer Robert A. Wonsetler and Chief's Aide Irvin F. Bishop. Bishop had spent 33 years at No. 2 Truck Company, 619 Kaighns Avenue.
