Baird Boulevard (originally Baird Avenue) runs diagonally through the Parkside and East Camden neighborhoods, named for Camden businessman and U.S. Senator David Baird Sr. It begins at Kaighn Avenue, crosses the Cooper River and Admiral Wilson Boulevard, and terminates at the intersection of Federal Street and 27th Street in East Camden.
Thomas J. Daley (1889-c. 1947) was a civil engineer who served as City Engineer of Camden, New Jersey from 1925, overseeing the marine terminal and new City Hall.
Joseph E. Nowrey, born in 1865 in Glendon, Pennsylvania, played a significant role in Camden, New Jersey's history. His father, Alexander Nowrey, established a dry goods business at 842 Locust Street in Camden before passing away in 1877.
Four children of Mrs. Geraldine Binder died in a 20-minute fire at 433 Garden Avenue in East Camden; Battalion Chief Thomas Blair said all four appeared to have died of smoke inhalation and that the blaze likely started near the living room couch.
