An appeal was made today for blood donors for a 17-year-old Camden girl, seriously ill in a Philadelphia hospital.
She is Charlotte C. Blodgett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Barker Blodgett, 858 Fairview st. Charlotte was brought to public attention when The Courier-Post published a story on Nov. 26 that she had received a letter from a lady-in-waiting to Queen Elizabeth.
Charlotte's hobby is a study of Britain's royal family and she had written to the Queen requesting a "sample" of the coronation invitations. Although Charlotte did not receive a specimen invitation several persons who read the story about her gave her other souvenirs of the royal family to add to her collection.
The girl, suffering from a blood disease, was admitted to Jefferson Hospital Friday morning. Her physician, Dr. Franklin Miller, said that six blood transfusions would be needed.
Blodgett said his daughter has not been well since March. Before her present illness she had suffered from rheumatic fever from the time she was 12 until she was 15 years old.
Blodgett said donors should fast for three hours before giving blood. He asked anyone who went directly to the hospital to specify the blood was for Charlotte otherwise the family would not be credited with the blood.
He added that volunteers could also telephone the Blodgett home, EM 5-8317 or call Joseph Powell, WO 4-6318.
