A former Camden resident was killed Saturday in a fire aboard a houseboat at Honolulu as he prepared to play Santa Claus at the Waialee Training school.\n\nThe victim, who had served as skipper of Honolulu's glass-bottom boat fleet, was Charles Edward Capner Jr., 29, who left the United States nearly eight years ago to take a civilian job at the Pearl Harbor navy yard.\n\nHis parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Edward Capner, of 1200 Cambridge street, said a cablegram disclosing the tragedy was the first news they had had of him since he left in February, 1942.\n\nHe is survived also by four brothers and two sisters. His father formerly was employed by the Curtis Publishing Co.
