Camden's Reputed Counterfeiters Held

Preliminary hearings were given yesterday to the four alleged counterfeiters captured Friday night by the Camden police and Secret Service men in a house on Cherry Street. The defendants, Lesigo Zernilo, who is alleged to have confessed; Uzo Belossi, Zincurao Paolucci and Michael Fennimine, were committed to the Camden county jail by Acting Recorder Knight for a further hearing before United States Commissioner Morgan next Thursday. It was through a daughter of Zernilo, who is said to have passed several of the coins on a storekeeper, that the first hint was received by the Camden police. At once Policeman Troncone was put on the case, with Detective Schregler. They had everything arranged when the Secret Service agents made the descent. Zernilo's daughter had in the meantime apprised her father of the storekeeper's inquiry as to where she was getting the coins. This put the accused on their guard. In consequence, much paraphernalia was not found when the house was entered.
