FATALLY CRUSHED BY AN ELEVATOR
Sixteen-Year-Old Lad Killed in a Camden Rug Factory
While running a freight elevator at the Fries-Breslin Smyrna Rug Works, in South Camden, yesterday afternoon Daniel Breslin, 16 years old, a nephew of a member of the firm, was crushed to death. His head was caught between the floor of the elevator and the landing of the third floor. Before fellow-workmen, who heard his agonizing cry for help, could aid him, his neck was broken. He was dead when taken from the elevator.
Coroner Bushey will investigate the accident. The lad's body was taken to his parents' residence, at 1241 Locust street.
The accident caused so much excitement among the 400 employes that the plant was closed down for the day. Young Breslin's father and two of his sisters work in the factory. One of the young women fainted three times after learning of her brother's death. The top of young Breslin's head fell in the weaving room, where 200 girls were at work.
