Big Machine Works Sold to a Massachusetts Loom Company.
HAS BEEN HERE A HALF CENTURY
The Crompton & Knowles Loom Works, of Worcester, Mass., one of the biggest concerns engaged in the manufacture of looms in the world, has purchased the loom business of the M. A. Furbush & Son Machine Company, whose plant is located at 324 North Twelfth street, this city, where it has been carried on about half a century.
Simultaneously with these negotiations arrangements have been made by the Crompton & Knowles Loom Works for the erection of new buildings in Philadelphia for the manufacture of the looms heretofore made by the Furbush Company in this city. These are principally for the weaving of carpets and rugs. Eventually all kinds of Crompton-Knowles looms will be made there.
The main offices of the M. A. Furbush & Son Machine Company are at Nos. 428–30 Bourse, Philadelphia. C. E. Grice is the president and treasurer of the company, and Benjamin F. Meyer the secretary.
