Get Chamberlain as He Leaves Jail

Just as he stepped from the portals of the Burlington county jail after serving a five months' sentence on conviction of charges of obtaining money under false pretences Samuel B. Chamberlain was this morning taken into custody by Detective Schregler. Chamberlain is wanted here to answer a similar charge. He was locked up at Police Headquarters for a hearing in Police Court to-morrow.
The accused was the former promoter and head of the defunct Cumberland-Mercer Relief Association of New Jersey, a concern that conducted a fraudulent funeral benefit business. The complainant against him in this city is Elsie Hunter, of 205 Mt. Vernon street. She alleged that on August 20, 1910, Chamberlain obtained from her $150 to invest for her in the Cumberland Relief Association by false pretences. Besides the complaint against Chamberlain in Camden, the police say there are four like charges pending against him at Millville. His trial at Mt. Holly last winter created a sensation, sixty witnesses appearing against him.
