HOLDUP MAN GIVEN 4 YEARS IN PRISON; BURGLAR GETS 2 Four Others in Mt. Vernon Street Stickup Elect to Stand Trial GUN TOTER SENTENCED A Camden man who admitted he held up two stores was sentenced to four years in state's prison, and a Philadelphian was given a three-year term for burglarizing two Gloucester homes, in Special Sessions of Criminal Court yesterday. The former is Jack Gannon, 32, of 312 North Third street. He and Walter Lynch, 32, same address, were indicted jointly on a charge of holding up Fiori Mascarini, 244 Mt. Vernon street, soft drink establishment proprietor, at the point of a gun and stealing $28 on May 14. Lynch pleaded not guilty, choosing to stand trial, but Gannon pleaded guilty and was sentenced. Gannon, Lynch and three other men were arraigned on an indictment charging that on May 13 they held up John Rossi, storekeeper at 542 North Front street, at the points of guns and stole $7.05. Gannon pleaded guilty and received two more years. The others pleaded not guilty and will be tried later. In addition to Lynch, the defendants are Nicholas Parisi, of the North Third street address; Carman Mercantini, 337 Line street; and Frank Tucci, 409 Beckett street. Phila. Man Sentenced The Philadelphia prisoner is Herman Smith, 24, of Twelfth and Lombard streets. On May 18, he broke into the home of Dr. R. T. Fox, 14 North Broadway, Gloucester City, and stole a revolver. Next he was surprised in the home of Mrs. Agnes M. Officer, 233 South Broadway, where he stole a wrist watch. Mrs. Officer called her father and brother-in-law, who chased Smith. The latter was captured by Patrolman Martin McNulty, whom Smith threatened to shoot. Smith received a year on each of the two larceny charges and a third year for the threat count. Judge Shay also meted out a number of less severe sentences. Alfred Swindell, 8 North Twenty-eighth street, pleaded guilty to assault and battery on his wife, Anna, and was given six months. Joseph Dzietczyk, 1519 Mt. Ephraim avenue, admitted he threatened to kill his wife, Helen, and was also sentenced to six months. Sandy Jackson, 1721 Van Buren street, was given 60 days for assault and battery on Minnie Coleman, same address. Patrick Joy, Charles Saunders and Paul Hagerty, all of Gloucester, charged with breaking into the home of Mrs. Amelia E. Adams, 616 Market street, that city, on April 18, pleaded guilty. Joy and Saunders were given indeterminate sentences in the Rahway Reformatory, while Hagerty was given an 18-month term at state's prison. Forger Sentenced William D. Keck, 722 Grant avenue, Collingswood, pleaded guilty to forging the name of C. F. Rell, of Collingswood, to several checks and passing them to the amount of $35. He was given four months in the county jail. William Green, 765 Sycamore street who when arrested May 13, had an unloaded revolver, was given six months. Harold Gentile, 32, of Haviland avenue, Audubon, pleaded guilty to a charge of non-support supported by his wife, Edith, of Barrington. They have two children. Judge Shay suspended a one-year sentence and ordered Gentile to pay $6 a week as support.
