Lad Drowned in Shallow Water

LAD DROWNED IN SHALLOW WATER While bathing with some companions at the foot of Jefferson avenue, Camden, yesterday afternoon, William Clements, 13 years old, was drowned in the Delaware River. He was seized with cramps, and sank to the bottom without the other lads seeing him. He was not missed until one of the other boys came in contact with his body while making a dive. The remains were brought ashore, and Coroner Robinson took charge of the case. The water was so shallow where the drowning occurred that the lad could stand on the bottom with his head near the surface.

The funeral of William C. Clements, 12 years old, who was drowned last Saturday in the Delaware River, took place yesterday from his grandparents' residence, at 1680 Ferry avenue.
