LAVINIA SOUGHT REVENGE. When George Deserted Her and Wedded Another Dusky Belle. Lavinia Tunnell, a buxom colored lass, formerly shared the comforts of the same home with George Matthews, as man and wife, in a Baxter street house, but to-day they are apart. George went and got married to another Baxter street belle and Lavinia sought revenge. In search of a soothing syrup for her sorrows Lavinia made a visit to the house of her former lover yesterday and found George and his bride gently cooing in each other's arms. The spark of wrath in the timid heart of Lavinia flamed as hot as Old Nick's furnaces are said to be and she blazed away with her tongue at George. Things waxed warmer and warmer and Lavinia thought it was about time she was taking a sneak. She vamoosed in the darkness and as she did a clock and coat went with her, so George says. The latter went to the office of Recorder Braker and swore out a warrant for Lavinia. She was apprehended and taken before the Recorder on a charge of disorderly conduct and larceny of the two articles, but was dismissed.
