Randall Pollard Arrested for Policy Slips

OVER IN CAMDEN Ellen Pinkerton, aged 50 years, of 1119 Pine street, was reported to the police yesterday as missing. John G. Henshaw, of 1130 South Sixth street, was badly hurt by a falling sign while painting a house at Fifth and Arch streets. He was taken to Cooper Hospital. Randall Pollard was arrested by Captain Stanley on Tuesday afternoon, charged with having policy slips in his possession. He was committed in default of $500 bail. William Molt, a saloonkeeper, of 1999 Federal street, East Side, was fined $50 and costs by Recorder Nowrey yesterday for selling liquor to Policemen Moore and Snow on October 22. Mrs. Thomas Finney, wife of Watchman Finney, of the National State Bank, was found dead in bed yesterday morning. Heart failure was certified as the cause by County Physician Jones. The will of the late Prosecutor Wilson H. Jenkins was admitted to probate yesterday. Mrs. Margie B. Jenkins, the widow, is sole executrix. Included in the estate is an insurance policy for $30,000. It was stated yesterday that a large number of Gloucester saloonkeepers who are under indictment for operating slot machines will plead guilty in court to-morrow in the hope of being let off with a small fine. Judge Armstrong yesterday decided in favor of the codicil of the will of Benjamin Beideman, which appoints among other things a trustee with a commission of 5 per cent. A caveat was filed by the widow and children claiming undue influence. Benedict Geyer, of 2351 North Broad street, Philadelphia, while tarring a roof at Fourth and Vine streets yesterday slipped and upset a pot of boiling pitch over his body. He was taken to Cooper Hospital. He will probably die. Directors for the reorganized Central Y. M. C. A. have been elected as follows: F. Wayland Ayer, H. B. Hanford, B. C. Reeve, T. I. Gifford, Schuyler C. Woodhull, James E. Taylor, Edward H. Seymour, Elmer E. Morton and G. Walter Preston. The board will soon elect permanent officers.
