Albert Thomas York, born on October 26, 1876, in Pennsylvania, moved with his family to Camden, where they established their residence at 641 Elm Street by 1910. Unfortunately, Albert's father had passed away by that time.
Camden's new automobile police patrol and ambulance were put in service on July 14, 1910. One of the first drivers was Albert T. York , who eventually rose to the rank of Sergeant on the Camden Police Department.
Seven-year-old Barbara Johnson of 1896 River Avenue was killed when a Camden police ambulance transporting Richard Gardiner of 2820 Adams Street struck her in the street, as reported in the Camden Post-Telegram of February 22, 1919.
