David Tattersdill was born in Leeds, Yorkshire, England in 1873 and opened his first music store at 1002 North 27th Street in Cramer Hill in 1903, building a business on Broadway that his sons continued operating into the 1970s.
27th Street runs from the Delaware River through Cramer Hill and East Camden to Marlton Avenue. Originally called Fulton Street before the 1899 annexation of Stockton Township, it was one of the main thoroughfares of the neighborhood and home to football star Mike Rozier.
An October 23, 1931 Camden Courier-Post political column noting, among other items, that the Polish-American Women's Citizens Club had endorsed David Baird for governor — the first endorsement in the club's six-year history.
