Starr Avenue
Starr Avenue ran northeast from Border Street to Federal Street near the Cooper River and was named for Jesse W. and John F. Starr, founders of Camden Iron Works. It was later renamed Mt. Ephraim Avenue.

Edward N. Cohn was born in 1832. On the 1870 U.S. Census, he reported his birthplace as Bohemia, while in the 1880 Census he listed it as Germany. It is likely he was born in a region that is now part of the Czech Republic.

Excerpted from History of Camden County, New Jersey, George Reeser Prowell, 1885 THE WEST JERSEY FERRY , familiarly known as " The Market Street Ferry ," extends from Market Street , Camden, to Market Street, Philadelphia, and is now, and has long been one of the leading lines of· transportation across the Delaware between the two cities.

From George Reeser Prowell's History of Camden County, New Jersey , 1886 Newton Friend's Meeting About the year 1800, when the general opening of roads made it no longer important to be on the water, Newton Friends determined to move from their old meeting-house on Newton Creek to a place more central; and in Fourth Month, 1801, Joseph Kaighn gave them the lot of land-at the corner of the Mount Ephraim road and Mount Vernon Street , in the present city of Camden, on which, in the same year, they built the brick meetinghouse that now stands there.

The Year 1845 - Camden, NJ
The Camden Water Works Company was incorporated by an act of the Legislature approved April 2, 1845 and authorized "to supply the city of Camden with pure water under such terms, regulations and conditions as city council shall by ordinance ordain and establish." The principals in the company were Isaac Cole, Benjamin W. Cooper, Charles Kaighn, Henry Allen, William Folwell, Nathan Davis, Benjamin T. Davis, John W. Mickle, and James Elwell.
