Harvey W. Blackwell Jr. of Camden, NJ served as a Private in the 13th Armored Regiment, 1st Armored Division. He was killed in action May 30, 1944 during the breakout from Anzio and is memorialized on the Tablets of the Missing at the Sicily-Rome American Cemetery, Nettuno, Italy.
Eighteenth Street runs from River Avenue north to just beyond Harrison Avenue in the Cramer Hill section of Camden, New Jersey. Originally called Dayton Avenue, it was renamed shortly after the 1900 Census.
Pfc. Bernard R. Blackwell, 22, of 1042 North 18th Street, Camden, received a Certificate of Merit for extraordinary service in removing a demolition charge from a bridge at Marburg, Germany, during the closing phases of World War II.
