26th Street, originally called Union Street in the pre-annexation Pavonia section, runs through Cramer Hill and East Camden from the Delaware River to Bank and Mickle Streets. It was laid out before 1887 and renamed after Stockton Township was absorbed by Camden in 1899.
The Police and Firemen's Beneficial Association granted pensions to Mrs. Anna Gick of 928 North 26th Street, widow of Captain Robert Gick, and to Mrs. Martha C. Cox, widow of Wright Cox.
Wright Cox, a Camden fireman and policeman for more than 40 years, died in Homeopathic Hospital in his 66th year. His funeral was set for the Schroeder Funeral Chapel at 538 Broadway, with interment in Bethel Cemetery.
