Bandit Gets $30 in Hyde's Cafe
Joseph F. Hyde Jr., 59, operator of Hyde's tavern, 1600 South Sixth street, last night reported an armed masked bandit robbed him of $30.
Hyde told Sgt. Earl Wright and Detectives Joseph Schultz and Clifford Del Rossi a man, wearing a mask and carrying a nickel-plated revolver, entered the taproom around 10.20 and announced: "This is a stickup."
Hyde said the man, wearing army fatigue clothes, put a piece of paper on the bar and ordered him to dump the contents of the cash register in it. Hyde said there were approximately $15 in bills and about the same amount in change.
He said two patrons in the place, Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin F. Livingston, 1634 South Sixth street, were not molested.
