BOXING AT MANAYUNK. Dan McConnell and Tommy Devlin Spar Four Lively Rounds. Every available bit of room in the big Masonic Hall at Manayunk was occupied last evening by the throng of spectators numbering fully 1000 people, who assembled to witness the athletic entertainment held there under the auspices of some fistic admirers from the Cressen A. C. and from various parts of the city. The show was the best of its kind ever given in Manayunk; a number of prominent athletes from the city and other parts participating in the exercises, which were conducted by John Mann, master of ceremonies, timer and referee. Leslie C. Pearce, the champion light-weight boxer and ball puncher of New England, gave some clever exhibitions in that line. Frank Moyer also gave exhibitions of club swinging and juggling. There were friendly bouts between Dan Coughlin, champion bantam of this city, and Jimmy Adair; Steve Flanagan, C. A. C., 95-pounder, and Fred Snyder, of this city; William Reagan and Jimmy Devlin, of the Falls; Professor Jack Lynch, of this city, and Jimmy Fleming, of Manayunk; John Montroy and Dennis O'Neil, R. A. C.; Kelly Brothers, John and Henry, of Manayunk; Jerome Quigley and Jack Hanley, the two crack light-weights of Philadelphia; Frank Fitsch, of Port Richmond, and Joseph Devlin, of Manayunk; Leslie C. Pearce and John O'Donnell, of Manayunk. The show closed with an exciting four-round wind-up at 133 pounds between Dan McConnell, a Philadelphia light-weight, and Tommy Devlin, of Manayunk. No decision was given from the platform.
