Brief Illness Is Fatal to Father of Detective

One of the oldest Italian residents of Camden, John Paradise, 84, of 607 South Fourth street, died last night at his home after an illness of two weeks.
Paradise was the father of City Detective James Paradise, who is attached to the vice squad. Three other sons, Anthony, Joseph and Paul, and his widow, Mrs. Maria Paradise, survive.
For more than a quarter of a century the elder Paradise was an employe of the city highway department, retiring from active service aout [sic] 15 years ago.
He was one of the founders of the Italian Republican League more than 40 years ago.
Relatives and friends are invited to review the remains tomorrow night at the home. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a. m. Saturday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery.
