On the force ten years, Sergeant Lewis Stehr was made a police captain yesterday by Mayor Ellis. He succeeds Arthur Stanley. who resigns because of disability after being commander of the Second District for eighteen years. Stehr‘s place will be taken by Policeman George Anderson, of the Ninth ward, who has been a member of the force for twenty three years. The changes are effective February 15.
Miss Lillian Hoffman won the prize of gold for realizing the most money from the sale of tags in, connection with the Jewish War rellef fund movement. She turned in $40. A total of over $2100 was raised.
To take over a garage business the Haddon Auto Company was chartered yesterday at the office of the County Clerk with a capital of $50.000. The incorporators are W. P. Wingender, Frank Nuetze and Walter McGonigle.
