Camden Girl, 9, Scalded As Hot Water Spills

A 9-year-old East Camden child was scalded Thursday night when a pan of hot water accidentally toppled from a table and fell in her lap.
Mary Burke, of 1241 North Twenty-sixth street, suffered burns of the thighs and legs and was held for observation at West Jersey hospital.
The child’s mother, Ruth, told police that she was making a medicinal preparation so her daughter could inhale to relieve a chest cold when the pan of water spilled. Mrs. Burke called police who took the girl to the hospital.
