When recently charges were preferred against him, Zane tendered his resignation, to take effect on February 1. •• Police Captain Stanley and a squad of officers in Camden early yesterday morning raided the house at 249 Cherry street, on complaint of Fannie Clark. There was considerable excitement when the officers descended on the inmates, and while some escaped, Rose Mitchell, the alleged proprietress; Maud Trusty and Edward Nugent were captured. The Fifth Ward Republican Club and Washington Circle, Brotherhood of the Union, last night viewed the remains of Benjamin M. Braker, at the latter's home, 508 Sycamore street.

Everything was closed tight yesterday. The police reported the lid was down good and hard.

"The Treating Habit in Our American Saloons" was the subject of a sermon preached by Rev. F. A. DeMaris, at the State Street M. E. Church, yesterday.
