Camden's Police Shake-Up Lieutenant Pettit Makes an Explanation and Chief Dodd a Denial. Lieutenant Pettit, of the Camden police department, is concerned over the exposure of his failure to execute a warrant against the gamblers at 503 Federal street, which was given to him two months prior to the time Chief Dodd raided the place. He claimed yesterday that the day after receiving the warrant he was told at headquarters to hold off until more definite information was secured. This is denied by Chief Dodd, who says Lieutenant Pettit was urged to execute the warrant, and the raid was organized by himself because of Pettit's inactivity. The raid and consequent controversy have opened up inquiries as to poolrooms and poker rooms, which are said to be in operation in the central part of the city.
