Colonel John Beck, of 523 Grant street, celebrated his birthday on Sunday. The colonel invited a good number of his friends to his home. About 12 o'clock the colonel invited the guests to the dining-room where they partook of a bountiful feast, which had been tastefully prepared by Mrs. Beck. Those present were David Simpson, Charles Eckenhoff, Jacob Ripple, Chas. Powell, Fletcher Bleakly, Gus Thorn, Gus Hemple, John Beck, Jr., Eph. Hires and a few others.
