Commissioner Mary W. Kobus has placed Junior Fire Captain William P. Spencer on temporary retirement at half pay. She explained that illness made it impossible for him to work in the immediate future.
Captain Spencer, 50, has been a city fireman 15 years. He was promoted to junior captain April 2, 1940, stationed at hook and ladder company No. 1. At half pay he will receive $1206 a year. He lives at 38 South Thirty-second street.
