Parents Must Pay for Prank of Boys
Theodore and Leon Emerle, 11 and 13, of 1530 South Tenth street, were caught in the act of yanking waterlilies up by the roots at the Forest Hill Park lagoon by Park Guard Crawford Smith yesterday afternoon. They were arrested on a charge of malicious mischief, and this morning, after about forty of the plants had been exhibited as part of their mischief, Police Judge Cleary ordered their parents to pay for the value of the plants.
Incidentally, Judge Cleary announced that vandalism in the park will be regarded as a serious offense and that those found guilty will be heavily fined in the future.
