REACHES FOR 'GUN,' TWO 'BANDITS' FLEE Intended Victim, 66, Chases Youths After Foiling Holdup An attempt of two youths to hold up Francis Drury, 66, of 826 York street, last night was frustrated when the intended victim threatened to "pull a gun." Drury told detectives he was walking on Eighth street, between vine and State, when the two youths approached him from behind. One of them touched Drury on the shoulder as the other extended a hand in which appeared a shiny object, like a revolver. Drury said he drew away from the youths and shouted defiance. "I can play at that game too," Drury said he shouted, as he reached toward his pocket in a gesture to draw a weapon. The youths withdrew a short distance from their intended victim and shouted epithets, Drury said. When he started toward them the two fled around a corner, the man said. Detectives Thomas Murphy and Gus Fortune began an investigation and scoured the neighborhood with the assistance of police in radio cars, but failed to find the youths. Drury was taken to the rogue's gallery but he was unable to identify any photographs. He said both were swarthy complexioned, and approximately five feet five inches tall. One wore a light felt hat and a dark overcoat and the other was attired in dark hat and coat.
