So. Camden Resident Awakened by Noise Finds Window Jimmied; Trio Fleeing
How he shot at three men who attempted to enter his house shortly after midnight, as they hurdled a fence in the back yard and escaped, was told detectives today by Louis Massio, who lives at 1902 South Fourth street.
Massio, who lives at 1902 South Fourth street, said he believed he hit one of the would-be burglars, but detectives failed to find any evidence that a bullet found its mark. Nobody has reported at local hospitals for treatment of gun wounds, the detectives had learned this morning.
Massio said he was awakened by a noise of a window being raised. He said he grabbed a revolver and went downstairs. He heard a scuffle of feet in the yard back of the house and, rushing to the kitchen, looked through the open window in time to see the men jumping over the fence.
He said he fired one shot, but the men got away. They had left their automobile on the other side of the fence, Massio told detectives. Nothing was stolen, he reported. A jimmy had been used to force the window open.
