Take Sixteen Men in Raid
Sixteen men, several cases of beer and many quarts of gin and whisky formed part of the plunder taken in a raid on a house at 214 Pine street, Camden, yesterday, by Police Captain Stanley and a squad of bluecoats. Annie Handy, alleged proprietress, escaped. When the police entered the house it was alleged they found the men—sailors, ironworkers and others hailing from all sections—having an interesting time in getting away with the wet goods. A grand rush for windows and doors was made, but all means of escape had been cut off. The alleged proprietress was not in the place at the time. The men are held as witnesses.
