Twice Tried Suicide
Appropriate Services Held in the Various Churches
As a result, it is said, of a quarrel, Daniel Burns, 33 years old, of 412 Viola street, Camden, made two attempts to end his life early yesterday morning by inhaling gas. He nearly succeeded in his second effort, it requiring some quick work on the part of physicians at the Cooper Hospital to save his life.
Burns, after the quarrel, went to his room, locked the door, filled up the cracks and crevices and turned on the gas. Then he lay on the bed calmly awaiting death. The door was broken in by the members of his family and the gas turned off. No sooner was he left alone than he again shut the door and tried the same trick. This time he was unconscious when found in the gas-filled room. Then he was hustled to the hospital.
