Camden Boy makes the “Big Smoke” By Terrific Swatting and Running

Goes with Toledo Next Year

Vincent Tydeman, one of the most consistent all-round base ball players tthis [sic] city ever turned out, is home again after gleaning to his honor a record enviable.

Vince was a member of the Grand Rapids team, in the Central League, and his hitting and base running materially aided that aggregation to win the pennant. He led the league in slugging and batted over the.300 mark besides stealing 55 bases. Vince is also among the first ten players in the league for run-getting. This record is one to be proud of and through it, it is said, he has been handed over to the Toledo team, where he will play next year.

The Grand Rapids Club broke all records in the Central League this year for games won, winning 92 out of 142 played. Vince had the honor of paving the way to many of these victories through his heavy hitting, and in one game in particular he won a fifty dollar prize by hitting the “Bull” and winning the game with the hit at the same time.

Vince Tydeman is a Camden product and now resides at 537 Bailey Street.
