Woman's Yells Scare 2 Bandits From Store

Two unmasked young bandits last night attempted to hold up a downtown grocery store, but fled when the wife of the proprietor let out a few lusty screams.

Mrs. Mary Marchlik was in her husband's grocery store at 1466 South Tenth street, shortly before 10 p.m., when two men, each about 19 years old, walked in.

"This is a stickup," snarled one of the bandits as each leveled a revolver at the woman. She screamed and the youths fled.

Joseph Marchlik, the husband, was asleep in the dining room. Aroused by his wife's screams, he started after the pair who escaped across open lots near the store.
