The Courier-Post traced his career from merchant at Ninth and Market streets and Second Ward councilman to patrolman in 1912 and permanent chief in 1934.

Charles H. Truitt, 76, retired by the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1929 after 53 years of service, died suddenly at his home, 119 North Twenty-fourth Street. A Camden native, he began as a fireman on tugboats and later worked on the company's ferryboats and as an engineer in its power plants.
John W. Coleman, 87, of 31 North Thirty-fifth Street — a Civil War veteran, former Camden councilman and retired Southwark National Bank assistant cashier — died in February 1935 after 45 years in East Camden.
