Auburn Alley runs north and south from Washington Street, east of South 6th Street, behind the homes on Chambers Avenue. Today only a portion of the original alley is accessible, with residences encroaching on the Berkley Street side.
Berkley Street runs through South Camden from Buren Avenue to Haddon Avenue, named for Lord Berkeley, one of the original proprietors of colonial New Jersey. The section east of Broadway was once known as Hamilton Street until 1882.
Benson Street, in South Camden, was named for John J. Benson, an agent of the Camden and Amboy Railroad who played a key role in developing the Stevens’ lands into building lots.
