Clare Street is a one-block thoroughfare in South Camden, running from Pine Street to Division Street. Originally called Pine Avenue, it was renamed Clare Street between 1878 and 1890, then later renamed Jesthroe Hunt Sr. Lane in honor of a Camden firefighter who passed away in 2005.
Walter James Aloysius Stanton Sr. was born in March of 1867 to James and Emma Stanton. The 1870 Census shows the family residing in what was then Camden's South Ward, providing a glimpse of their early life in the city.
A September 15, 1932 Camden Courier-Post feature by E. Allen Hughes on ten obscure Camden "places" — dead-end courts such as Judson, Girard, Bella and Rex Place that had quietly become safe play-spaces for neighborhood children.
