Seven Brothers Baking Company

Founded in 1910, the Seven Brothers Baking Company was initially managed by its original owner. In 1916, it came under the leadership of the seven Canzanese brothers, nephews of the founder. Vincent Canzanese played a key role in expanding and improving the bakery annually. The company, which started with horse-drawn wagons delivering bread and rolls in Camden, eventually switched to trucks. By autumn 1936, they operated a fleet of eighteen vehicles, distributing products to groceries and restaurants across much of South Jersey. That same year, they introduced a novel product: a rectangular, pre-sliced Italian bread, deviating from the traditional round loaf.

However, by 1947, the Seven Brothers Baking Company ceased operations. The family then acquired a bar at 713 South 3rd Street, at the corner of South 3rd and Pine Streets. In the 1947 Camden City Directory, this establishment was listed as the Seven Brothers Cafe. Managed by Vasco Canzanese, it was known as Vasco's Cafe into the 1970s.
