American National Bank

1213 Broadway (Broadway & Amber Street)

Founded in the mid‑1920s, the American National Bank constructed an impressive building at 1213 Broadway, which remained standing until sometime between July 2017 and July 2018 after a long period of dilapidation. The bank's president, Elmer Ellsworth Long, had long been associated with the Munger & Long Department Store at Broadway and Federal Street. Another director, Louis Waisban, operated a grocery business and held real estate interests in Cramer Hill.

The American National Bank merged with the Camden Trust sometime after February 1936. The building continued to operate as a branch of the Camden Trust, and later its successor, the Bank of New Jersey, until at least 1977.

The structure was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.
