Camden Quartet Accused of Manslaughter Following Brawl
Following the death of John Mabelski, 22 years old, of 1025 Fillmore street, last night from a fractured skull received in a brawl on Sunday night, four men were held without bail by Recorder Stackhouse, charged with manslaughter. Coroner Kraft directed Detective Modgist to make the charges.
The accused are William Kilroy, aged 24 years, of 603 Central avenue; George Brown, aged 23 years, of 633 Central avenue; George Moor, aged 33 years, of 651 Ferry avenue, and John Lutz, aged 24 years, of 1025 Fillmore street. The four men are members of a group of Polanders who, returning from a Fourth of July celebration on Sunday, were aroused at Railroad and Ferry avenues by the cry of a woman who had been found unconscious on the sidewalk. According to Kilroy they were attacked by a man who struck him in the head with a stone. A brawl ensued in which the others, who were arrested as a result of the melee, took part. Mabelski was one of the crowd.
