Bad Luck Story Fails as Court Fines Man

BAD LUCK STORY FAILS AS COURT FINES MAN A broken leg received in an automobile accident probably saved Gus Seletos, former restaurant proprietor of 1221 South Tenth street, from being sentenced to jail yesterday on a charge of passing worthless checks. Seletis appeared before Judge Austin H. Swackhamer on charges of passing two worthless checks, one for $56 upon Stanley Jaskulski, 1062 Kaighn avenue, the other for $32 upon Lorch Bros., Philadelphia. Seletos appeared in court, leaning heavily on a cane. He said he had suffered a fractured leg in an accident two months ago and also told Judge Swackhamer he had seven small children to support. He declared he was no longer in business. Judge Swackhamer expressed sympathy, but fined Seletos $100, permitting him to pay it at the rate of $5 a week.
