Superintendent of Police Sylvester telegraphed Chief Foster that Charlotte “Lottie” Helm, aged 15 years, had been taken into custody at Washington, D. C. Sergeant Schregler was sent after her. The girl is a resident of Camden and was reported missing by her parents some time ago. She had been in the custody of the police at Washington, who say she was found there with a man.
Driver Peter Carter, of Engine Company No. 1, suffered injuries that may prove serious when the heavy engine, returning at speed from a fire early this morning, struck a trolley car at the corner of Broadway and Federal street. Carter was thrown violently from his seat against the dashboard. He was taken to the Cooper Hospital, where examination showed fracture of the ribs.
