Hat Thieves Caught.
One Has Served Time at Trenton, the Other in the County Jail.
Police Officer Hyde, of the Seventh ward, last night captured Charles Monroe, 735 Liberty street, and Alfred Robinson, 705 Baxter street, the men who stole two hats from William Ross, Fourth and Kaighn avenue, on Wednesday night. They sold the hats to a second-hand dealer named Samuel Albert, 705 Kaighn avenue, and although they cost Mr. Ross $1.50 each, the dealer paid the men thirty-five cents for the two. Ross identified the goods and recognized the men as the two who were in his store. They were locked up in default of $300 bail by the Mayor for court. Monroe has served two terms in State Prison, and Robinson has been arrested and confined in the county jail several times for petty thieving.
