Mrs. Sophie Buechler, 74, wife of Christian Buechler, died yesterday at her home, 1130 North Twenty-sixth street, after a brief illness.
Born in Germany, Mrs. Buechler came to the United States more than 50 years ago and settled in Philadelphia. She had lived in East Camden since 1902. Mr. Buechler is a retired employe of the New York Shipbuilding Corporation.
Mrs. Buechler first was married to Harry Hess, who died many years ago. She had four children by the first marriage and two by the second. She was an aunt of Mrs. Pauline F. Caperoon, assistant to City Commissioner Mary W. Kobus.
The husband, two sons, four daughters and 12 grandchildren are the survivors. All live in Camden. The children are Mrs. Fred C. Bauer, Jr., Mrs. Raymond Gehret, Mrs. Ralph F. Bingemann, whose husband is junior captain of Camden Fire Truck Co., No. 1; Mrs. Edward C. Bauer, Bernard Buechler and Harry Hess, a hoseman attached to No. 11 Engine Co.
Mrs. Buechler was a member of the Ladies’ Aid Society of Christ Evangelical German Lutheran Church. The funeral will be held at 2 p. m. Saturday in a funeral home at 804 North Twenty-seventh street. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Park.
