Samuel Rosen Dies; Beth Israel Founder

Samuel Rosen, 51, of 2597 Baird boulevard, a leader in Jewish fraternal and charitable circles in Camden, died yesterday at Mt. Sinai hospital, Philadelphia, after long illness.
Mr. Rosen was manager for the Monogram Film Distributing Co., Philadelphia. He resided in East Camden for 25 years and was one of the founders of Beth Israel synagogue, Twenty-eighth and High streets.
Mr. Rosen also was past patron of Jacob J. Hernfield Link, Order of the Golden Chain, and was a member of the Mizpah Lodge, FAM, Excelsior Consistory and Crescent Temple. He was a director of the Mizpah Free Loan Association.
He is survived by his widow, Mayme; two sons, Sgt. Norris, serving in Italy, and Dr. Leonard Rosen, Camden optician, and one grandchild.
Services will be at 1 p.m. tomorrow in a funeral home, Broad street near Columbia avenue, Philadelphia. Rabbi Mordecai Poupko of Beth Israel synagogue, will officiate.
