100 GIRLS IN FIRE SCARE; CHIEF'S AUTO OVERTURNS Responding to an alarm of fire from the plant of the General Gas Mantle Company, at Fourth street and Jefferson avenue, Camden, yesterday afternoon, Fire Chief Stockton and his chauffeur, Martin Carrigan, had a close call from injury at Broadway and Kaighn avenue. The car skidded in turning the corner and crashed into a beer truck. The chief and his driver jumped as the machine turned over. Neither was hurt. The fire was in the dip room of the plant. The loss was trifling, but the hundred or more girls employed there were nearly in a panic making their escape. None was hurt.
