Friends Bid Adieu to Father Brennan

Many Attend Farewell Dinner to Former Assistant at St. Joseph's Church

More than 200 friends and fellow-clergymen attended a farewell dinner last night for Rev. William J. Brennan, former assistant pastor of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Twenty-ninth street and Westfield avenue. Father Brennan recently was appointed pastor of St. Cecelia's Church at Iselin and Menlo Park, in Middlesex county.

Dinner was served in the reception hall of St. Joseph's School, adjoining the church. Rev. Charles G. McCorriston, pastor, and more than a dozen other priests joined in tribute to Father Brennan, who was extremely popular in East Camden.

City Commissioner Clay W. Reesman, director of parks and public property, also was a guest.

Father Brennan actively sponsored sports among the parishioners and students of St. Joseph's. He took over his new charge last Tuesday but returned here to help direct a forthcoming play of the school children.

He was ordained 14 years ago and for a time was in charge of the Hopewell orphanage. He served as a chaplain during the World War. He is a native of Wallingford, Conn., and came to this city last March. His appointment to the North Jersey pastorate was announced early this week by Bishop John J. McMahon, at Trenton.
